Challenge: Build a 4-Bar Progression
Put your progression skills to work: fill four bars from the chord palette, add bass and drums, and craft a loop you would actually want to listen to.
You know the moves — now build your own. Fill all four slots from the palette, turn on DRUMS, and keep tweaking until you find a loop you would actually listen to. A few hints from the last three lessons:
- Start or end on I so the loop has a home.
- V pulls hard toward home — it shines right before I.
- vi adds shade when all-major feels too sunny.
- Once the chords work, try a different key and bass style for the final polish.

Steal like a songwriter
The fastest way to grow your progression vocabulary: next time a song hooks you, look up its chords, translate them into roman numerals, and rebuild them here. Every songwriter you love did exactly this — great progressions are not invented from nothing, they are collected, borrowed, and reshuffled until they sound like you.
